Posiflex Aura 8800 receipt printer installation issues HELP

I have been attempting to install the Posiflex Aura PP 8800 today without success.

I want to connect it to my laptop via USB however the laptop would not even acknowledge it being plugged in until I turned the number 6 pin underneath to on, for USB interface. This seemed to conflict with instructions to have 1 and 2 on only in order to use a virtual COM drive with USB, however in that configuration I had no success. It's not clear from the manual or the website which driver is the correct one to install.

When my laptop did recognise it with switch 6 on, the device installed as 'unspecified' rather than as a printer meaning that it could not be selected as a printer in the Easify software.

Has anyone successfully installed this device using USB?

It'd be worth trying to install your printer with the Generic Text print driver.

Hi I've just installed windows 8.1 and now my receipt printer will not work. I've uninstalled it and re-installed again as a generic printer and restarted my pc but when trying to print a test receipt windows gives the error message 'generic/text only is in an error state'. Can anyone help? Obviously this also fires my till drawer so that's not working too.

Thermal receipt printers often require specific Windows 8 / 8.1 drivers, these are usually available via the manufacturer website, but only if the manufacturer is continuing main line support for that particular model at the time Windows 8 was released. In some cases there is no support at all for Windows 8.

Here is the manufacturer driver download page for Posiflex:

http://www.posiflexusa.com/driver.php

Go to "DRIVERS > PRINTERS > PP8000 SERIES > Windows 8" for the Windows 8 driver download.

If you get any issues installing the Windows 8 driver we recommend contacting the manufacturer directly for support. Once Windows can print to your printer it is likely to work with Easify.

Please keep in mind we only fully test and therefore only fully support hardware that we sell on our website.

Hi I already have the most up to date drivers installed. It was working fine on windows 8, it is only since installing windows 8.1 it says it is in an error state. All my hardware including this receipt printer were purchased from the easify website.
