EPOS Terminal Operation using Touch Screen

I am a new user attempting to set up an EPOS system to bring us into the 21st century, using Easify as a replacement for a till / manual paperwork setup in our Model Shop.

I have managed to obtain a MegaPOS MP3275a EPOS computer which includes a touch screen and a front facing customer display. The computer came complete with an Epson thermal printer and a cash drawer and currently work as expected. I will in due course be buying a barcode scanner to add to this setup. The computer is running Windows XP Tablet edition and I have fully updated it and installed Easify too.

My main question is whether it is possible to enter information into the POS part of Easify, using just the touch screen. i.e. when you click into the stock lookup, an on screen keyboard would appear allowing text entry. Similarly, when you go to accept payment, can a number pad appear to allow entry of digits? This would allow the till to be standalone until any major work is required on the system.

I am at present using a USB connected keyboard / mouse to write this, and could also use the XP Tablet Input Panel, although it can only be used docked, either at the bottom or top of the screen. Would upgrading the OS to Vista or 7 be sensible, as they too include a Tablet Input Panel?

Apologies for the chapter and verse but I hope that you'll be able to answer my questions and maybe offer some useful advice.

Thanks in advance

Easify doesn't have its own on screen keyboard. We recommend using the inbuilt one in Windows, [Windows Key] + R to bring up the Run command, then type in OSK and press enter.

We're planning on improving the Point of Sale screen in a future update.

If you prefer the on screen keyboard in Vista or 7, we'd recommend first making sure that there are drivers available from the manufacturer's website for your computer for those versions of Windows.
